    Focussed Financial Guidance

    David Gibney was raised as part of a large farming family near Kyneton, Central Victoria. On completing school he opted to study agriculture at the VCAH Glenormiston achieving an Associate Diploma in Farm Management. He acquired his Wool Classing Stencil before gaining further experience in the Beef and Wool industries.

    In 1987 David returned to study at Monash University and obtained his Bachelor of Economics, Majoring in Accounting. He planned to merge his interests & experience in the land together with his economics and finance qualifications. Australia's largest privately owned Agribusiness Company, ICM Australia employed him as an Accountant until he returned to his home town of Kyneton. The idea was to oversee the running of the family farm at Baynton whilst continuing his work as an accountant. He also operated a small farming enterprise primarily focused on beef cattle until recently when family commitments took precedent.



    David commenced the business in 1995 as a sole practitioner operating from its current position in the centre of town. For two years while setting up the practice, he lectured for the University of Melbourne at the Longernong campus. David is ably supported in his role by several key full time staff including his wife Julie-Anne.



    The firm has a keen focus on assisting commercial and service industries in their taxation and business planning areas including incorporating the current opportunities available with superannuation.



    David is available for consultation on all tax advice and business planning related issues.

    Joedy started with us as a part-time office administrator/manager in May 2008. She came to us with a wealth of experience in management of software programs, workflow systems and customer service. A self starter she previously ran a local book-keeping business as well as managing three children (including twins).  Now full time, she has motivated us to achieve our goals and is always coming up with new ideas to improve operations and minimize costs for our clients.

    Julie-Anne has a wealth of experience in the money market having worked in Perth, Brisbane and Melbourne where she met David. Initially they set up the business in July 1995 and for a numbers of years worked full time together before the business grew and a several staff came on board.     Xero

    Our practice is currently implementing new software. Perfect for Small Business, Xero has been expanding their footprint in this area and has major benefits particularly for those with a number of employees, as it has a great payroll system. Since MYOB purchased their main competitor BankLink several years ago, development on the product stalled. Xero stepped into this space in 2007 and has grown to service 262,000 subscribers including 9,000 Accounting and Book Keeping Partners in Australia. They have also partnered with over 50 financial institutions who provide direct bank feeds covering 83% of banking transactions within this country. Being cloud based, information is immediately updated and assessable by the client and the Accountant simultaneously. This means information in the system is updated overnight instead of monthly, allowing the clients to have better visibility over their cash flow and day to day operations. Additional features include debtors, creditors, invoicing (as well as automatic email reminders) and inventory. There are also “add ons” that integrate in order to tailor the software to suit specialized industries and can provide POS (point of sale) workflow management, Client Relationship Management, Data Capture and much more. Clients are able to scale up or down as flexible pricing structure allows for this depending on the features required. Every 4-6 weeks updates are done automatically overnight which means you always have the latest version removing the need to download, update or install anything else.     We meet David and Julie-Anne Gibney in 2009. We got know David via non accounting matters. A trusting relationship developed and we felt comfortable discussing our finances with him. David suggested some excellent financial management strategies and then assisted us to implement them. This advice saved us $1000’s immediately! Based on that experience we swapped over our accounting services, from our Melbourne based accountant. David’s local knowledge and experience in dealing with small business combined with our interest in a small land holding has immediately proven comforting and rewarding. He has assisted us restructure our business, changed the way we do our taxation and BAS and the way we approach our business from a financial perspective for the better. We actually now understand what we are doing with our finances and feel as if we have control of our financial destiny.
