• Make sure that the utilities like plumbing, gas, and electricity are accessible for your outdoor kitchen

When designing your outdoor kitchen there are three general designs.

• Basic—this design will generally feature a grill, a sink, and a small space where you can store your supplies.  There may also be a small area where you can chop vegetables.  It is designed for occasional cooking but not heavy duty cooking.
• U-shaped—this design has islands that provide distinct areas for each kind of work.  You will have a place to prepare, cook, and eat the food.  This is the design that is normally preferred because the food can be served straight from the grill and conversation can be maintained.
• L-shaped—this design has the configuration that will allow separate spaces for preparing and cooking the food.  The seating arrangements are normally next to the grill island.
