Theatre is alive and well in Bathurst with the Bathurst Theatre Company (BTC) providing a comprehensive program of perfromances that cater for diverse tastes and all age groups. The BTC recently completed a season of “The Dress Up Box” which toured the local Pre-Schools and was so successful that it will be toured through Orange pre-schools in late August.
On the 11th of September, “Blokes Don’t Talk” will be performed at St Pat’s Sporting Club - a wonderfully entertaining experience not to be missed by men and especially women who would like a little insight into their man and the way he thinks.
Rehearsals are also now underway for the BTC’s major production for 2008, “Asparagus”. This is an historically based, exciting new original work written by Ray Harding and directed by Bill Blaikie. It will be performed at the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre on the 23rd, 24th and 25th of October.
Children are extremely well catered for with weekly YOUtheatre drama classes for 6-17 year olds that will culminate in a wonderful end of year performance in Machattie Park on the 13th of December. It will be a rythm, movement and circus celebration!
BTC’s YOUtheatre for young people also runs holiday and weekend Outreach Drama Workshops in the towns and villages around Bathurst. Successful workshops have already taken place in Lithgow, Rockley and Cullen Bullen and the next one is being held in Oberon over four Saturdays from the 30th of August. This will be followed by a Workshop in Millthorpe in the next school holidays. Call Zoe Newman on 6332 2336 for information and bookings.
