Phil Hollett's work perfectly captures the natural beauty of our Bay Lifestyle.
Phil Hollett – "I have always loved landscape photography, particularly the wide formats. Until recently, the equipment used to create these images was very specialised and owned by relatively few photographers. With the advent of digital photography this has now changed. Many landscape photographers have put aside their specialised film cameras in favour of the new technology of photo stitching for creating high resolution wide format images. Most of the images on this website were created in this way. The equipment and software available today make it possible to create very accurate high resolution images.
It is all part of the digital revolution which has given the photographer the extraordinary ability to capture, develop, and print their own images, and to do so in ways that weren’t practical, or even possible, in the not so distant past with film.
Even though digital technology has widely expanded the possibilities at our fingertips and freed us from many previous limitations, it doesn't replace a careful composition, nor does it change the need to be there when the light is right. Passion and patience are still the vital ingredients in landscape photography.
I am fortunate to be able to access a wide range of environments within a relatively short drive from Busselton. From the calm Busselton and Dunsborough beaches and other Geographe Bay favorites like the Busselton Jetty, Castle Bay, Meelup, Eagle Bay, and Bunker Bay; to the more exposed and dramatic coastal features along the Cape Naturaliste to Cape Leeuwin stretch. If I head inland, there are forests, wetlands, farms, vineyards and so much more. Photography has been an ideal way to explore this beautiful area and I feel as though I have hardly scratched the surface".
