A man walking along the coastline at Evans Head yesterday evening entered a sea cave and discovered a partially decomposed foot.

A spokesperson from NSW Police said the foot was taken for examination and verified to be human. Police suspect the foot is possibly that of a 27-year-old motorcyclist who went missing on Saturday 10 January.

The missing man set off on a short motorbike ride along Evans’ Airforce Beach and when he hadn’t returned by daylight, his family contacted police.

A massive search went underway for the man, who Police suspected was thrown from his motorcycle and swept out to sea by a king tide at Evans Head. Officers from the Richmond Local Area Command located the man’s damaged motorbike, submerged among rocks leading to the beach, but failed to find the man.

Tyre marks suggested the motorcycle entered the rock formation at high speed and crashed.

The spokesperson described the missing man as white/European in appearance, 178cm tall, with a medium build and very short, sandy coloured hair. He was last seen wearing a checkered black and grey shirt, denim jeans and shoes.

Anyone with info about the matter is urged to contact Evans Head Police on (02) 6682 4202 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

  • Leave nothing but footprints

Please let us all extend sincere blessings and goodwill to the family and friends of this poor departed soul.
Recently I have reflected a lot on mortality (loss of Dad, terminally ill friend etc)
I keep coming back to a saying I learned as an Earth educator way back “Take nothing but photos, leave nothing but footprints” Despite whatever deeds we do, possessions we amass, beliefs we hold, or imprint on humanity we leave In the end the footprints of even the most powerful, famous or evil are simply washed away.
Blessed be the soul that belonged to the soul of the found foot.
