“A study that will bring tears to your eyes: next month’s Royal Australasian College of Surgeon’s annual meeting will see Australian researchers present their study on the nature of pelvic injuries incurred by rodeo riders.
“The three year retrospective study conducted at a rural base hospital found symphyseal disruption classically occurred as a result of a high energy collision between the anterior pelvis and the solid pommel of a Western saddle.
“Aside from what must have been considerable pain, one patient experienced impotence for six weeks as a result of the injury, while another suffered ongoing severe impotence.”
