87 Keppel Street that is. Here's for why.
The Radio Redhead aka RR and her mum, with me in tow lunched at the Schnitzel Bar on Friday - in honor of a birthday.
At this stage, the restaurant is still adjusting a in Facebook and can be forgiven for any growing pains, such as no EFTPOS or drinks (hard stuff) bar. They'll come soon enough.
The Sschnitzel Bar is super clean and airy with some great New York pictures on the wall and joy of joys, the table cloths are white paper with a bowl of crayons for the doodler and budding Pro Harts - yours truly was in doodler's heaven. The ladies did not doodle, even though their family RR's sister is an artist.
The RR and her Mum opted for the beef schnitzel with 'seafood sauce - a healthy dollop of garlic prawns; I chose the chicken schnitzel with the same sauce and added a cheesy garlic bread.
I was not prepared for the size of the meal, it was tres generous and delicious. My chicken was moist, tender and with a generous helping of the garlic prawn sauce - yes, there were prawns aplenty - a delightful meal. The ladies were pleased too.
You'd better come really hungry. We three did not make it to dessert. Oh well, that treat is yet to come.
The waitstaff! What can I say. We were served by a delightful lady, working her way through Uni and nothing, I mean nothing was too much trouble for her, even to helping the RR's mum to the comfort station.
If there is anything negative to be said - and this is a minor moan. The chips could have been a little more attractive, they were tasty though. I'll put that down to moving-in pains.
BTW! The official opening is yet to be announced. Once word gets around the Schnitzel Bar is in operation, bookings are going to be essential.
Greg and Julie and their team will look after you.
The Schnitzel Bar is on 87 Keppel Street, off Bentinck, next to Discount Dave's. There is parking.
Irrespective of the Work-In-Progress - WIP. I'll give it a score of ten and we'll just have to go back again. 87 Keppel Street that is. Here's for why.
