Karratha

Karratha, is a modern town in the Pilbara region north of Perth which grew with the onset of iron ore mining and export. Planned and constructed in 1968, this town continues to grow and the number of service industries continue to flourish. It boasts the second busiest airport in Western Australia.

Karratha is Aboriginal for soft earth or good country.
