It may be famous for its Boab trees but Derby has a lot more to offer than unusual vegetation. Located on the tidal mud flats of the King Sound, Derby has the highest tidal range of any port in Australia.  Derby has a population of approximately 7500 people and has several schools and community facilities.

Visitors to Derby can travel to the nearby Buccaneer Archipelago, a beautiful natural site which provided many of the pearls which luggers used to bring back to Derby Port. The first hotel, jetty and tramway in the Kimberley were built in Derby. Derby offers a number of accomodation options as well as tour packages.
