Named after Angus Mackay, who built the renowned Star Hotel along with Hugh McNally in 1885, Macksville is a coastal fishing and oyster-farming town located halfway between Sydney and Brisbane. With a strong history of sport, Macksville hosts Australia's second oldest running race, the Macksville Gift, every November. Macksbille also has a strong arts and crafts culture, with the Macksville Show on the last weekend of every April. This show celebrates local agriculture and arts and crafts.

Macksville can be reached along the Pacific Highway and the North Coast railway line.
