Grenfell , a town in central New South Wales was originally known as Emu Creek. For lovers of history Grenfell is the place to visit, being home to Henry Lawson, Ben Hall and many historical buildings.

The Henry Lawson Festival of Arts is held on the June long weekend celebrating the birth of Henry Lawson on a Grenfell goldfield in 1867. Another famous historical figure, Ben Hall, one of the most revered bushrangers in Australia’s history, also resided at Grenfell. Ben Halls’ Cave which is believed to have been Ben hall’s hideout cave, has been preserved by the National Parks and Wildlife Service and the 30 minute walk to the cave provides a great view of the surrounding farmland.For those also interested in bush culture Seaton’s Farm is of interest having been built using only material that was readily available.If bushwalking, bird watching, camping or picknicking or even Guinea Pig Racing is of interest to you, then Grenfell is a must to visit.
