Tennant Creek

500km north of Alice Springs and 1000km south of Darwin, Tennant Creek sits in the heart of Australia. The town is surrounded by the Barkly Tablelands where some of Australia's premier cattle stations can be found.

Tennant Creek is famous for being home to Australia's last gold rush in the 1930s. This, along with the friendly nature of its residents, has earned it the nickname "Australia's heart of gold".

Aboriginal culture remains strong in Tennant Creek, with the traditional owners of the land being the Warumungu people. Many of the area's natural landmarks and attractions are significant to the Warumungu people including the famous Devil's Marbles.
