Ok so we all know Ballarat is one of the best looking regional centres in Australia and we're proud of our heritage. Gold was discovered here in 1851, and the influx of miners in less than a year transformed us from a pastoral town into Victoria's largest city.  We're the site for Australia's only armed civil uprising,  the Eureka Stockade.

The Ballarat Botanical Gardens are amongst the finest Botanical Gardens in Australia, Lake Wendouree hosted the rowing events for the 1956 Summer Olympics.  We all love the award winning tourist park Sovereign Hill, it's rated amongst one of the best tourism theme parks in the world.  Our town is changing and there are plenty of local issues to discuss in the Ballarat Forums.  Our local businesses are the lifeblood of the town so if you need to find anything look at our Ballarat Business Directory.
